NW KS/ SC ID | we check on both. just ordered some water conditioner lines (water conditioner was optional on a 7040 allis, I got the right stuff (bracket, filter base, valves, elbows, etc) with the wrong lines off a L2 gleaner, so just needed the lines) and online was 21 bucks, and at the dealer was 23. at that small of difference, we had the dealer order it. now the 120 dollar control cable that we need two of, the dealer had one in stock, and will likely not sell another for a while, so we will buy his 1 and order the other online for 101 bucks. he gets to get rid of a slow moving part, and we will go elsewhere for the second one.
basically we realize the cost of a parts department, and try to play fair, giving the dealer a chance, and supporting them when they try to be competitive, but when it is darn right stupid, we look elsewhere. You also cant hoard a stack of brochures from the online retailer. ;)
We are frankly pleased with how AGCO tries, the parts guy at the dealer told me about all the changes that have been made in the past few years, so agco is listening, they just need to work alot faster than they have been. but considering they arent obligated to carry parts for old equipment, especially being a new company, I am very happy we can get belts, slip clutches, etc. for a Gleaner out of the 60s. | |
