you should not lose your calibrations after an update in most situations. If it's an update just to get to to the latest version, your dealer should be able to restore your existing calibrations after the update. If it's an update to fix a problem, he may intentionally lose your calibrations so that he knows the system is back to a "factory" state, and then you can start from scratch with fresh calibrations.
