It would help to know what the SSU code is. And more specifics on the second problem. Where on the negative side exactly?
For the 8420: A common problem is the entire steering pivot wears out where the sensor is. We had an 8420 with that problem, had to replace the entire pivot assembly. RE226156 is the newest part number. Not too bad to install.
