My runway is only 16 ft long. One side is just wood posts and 2x12s. The othe side is a gate made from 4 2x12s. The gate is just chained to three posts. These posts have have 4x6s hinged to them that flip around between the post and the gat to narrow the runway for calves. Didn't take much to put together and has worked well for 15 years for my small operation.
