Used to have a 4840 with 8 speed powershift and just didn't like having only 8 gears. Asked local JD mechanic why they were only offered with the powershift. He said it was because they were tougher than a quad range. Have a 15 speed powershift in a 4450 with 14,000 hrs now. Personally would take the 15 speed powershift over a quad range. But 8 speeds just don't have enough gears.
Could you get a 4555 4755 mfd with a quad?
