IL | Around here the late 70's equipment isn't keeping its value as much. Seen good condition 4000hourish AC 7060's with decent rubber bring only 5-6 grand. Saw a JD 8630 with new rubber on all 4 corners only bring $11,000. Buddy bought a White 155 excellent condition for $6000. It's got to be in the 90's for guys around here to look at it and the dealers know that's what they want.
At those prices I can't afford to get rid of horsepower that cheap. I leave something hooked to everything during planting. Disc on an 8630, field cultivator on a 7060, planter on a mxu110. If the 8630 goes down I hook to the disc with a 4840 same if the 7060 goes down with the field cultivator. If the mxu110 goes down just swap everything up to the 7060. Got a backup disc and field cultivator we used to pull with a xt190 we can pull with the 110. As a 1 man operation I can't afford a day fixing equipment in season so I just change tractors or implements to a backup. | |
