NW IL | Paradyme can also connect to displays via db9 serial. This is common with 3rd party displays. I think this may be what he is attemping to do. Also i think the edge and insight both use the db9 serial instead of the ethernet connection.
Personally i enjoy hacking and reverse engineering cables, but for the cost of a new 1500 cable, i would vote to simply install a new 1500 cable rather then make the adapter that you are proposing.
