Subject: RE: white planter and true count clutches

Northeast Nebraska
I removed the spring closest to the clutch. Of course the down pressure capacity will change somewhat doing that. Right or wrong I used the figures it gives in the manual for the amount of down pressure for each setting and divided by the number of springs to get an idea of down force that would result with one less spring. Seemed to work good but would like to go to air bags and automatic control. I rarely use the 3rd and 4th hole except for no-tilling beans into heavy corn residue. At least I didn't break any clutch houses this year!
