haskell county, ks
i remember talking to a guy from iowa the last part of june and he said that it didn't matter that his corn had enough rain to make a crop even if it didn't rain again. out here our biggest fear is having to pull an irrigation pump and be down a week waiting for the repair guys and how fast a very good crop can go to disaster. we keep extra engine and heads but can't keep an extra well around. if we quit watering before black layer will pay a severe penalty in yield.
