South Central Minnesota | Wi-Fi isn't a practical option for two tractors to communicate in an open field. A typical wi-fi device has a working range of less than 300 feet. Anything past that you'd need powerful antenna's on both ends and those antenna's aren't designed for mobile applications. The only practical option to transfer data out in the middle of a field is by using the cell towers. I'm glad to see they built in Wi-Fi capabilities letting you use your cell phone as a mobile hot-spot or if you're at home, you're own wireless network if you don't want to use up your data cap on you cell plan, but simply putting an Agfiniti USB dongle on two monitors in the same field wouldn't work, you need the cell towers for coverage & long range data transfer.
Also, using a cloud account is the most practical & logical decision. Agleader will probably use the data to learn how to improve their product and how to market it better, but it's unlikely they have much interest beyond that. The alternatives to using the cloud are complicated and expensive and would be far less reliable than if Agleader managed the servers/data themselves. | |
