Subject: running pairs on wheat?

Eastern Oklahoma
Was thinking the other day that instead of buying calves to graze wheat buying pairs AI the cows for fall calves and sell bred cows and the feeders next spring. Not that much difference in the price of a bred cow and a pair wouldn't have much in the calf. Downside would be it takes more grazing for the cow. Just spitballing ideas waiting on grain truck battery to charge. Any thoughts?
