NE Kansas | Any reason not to lock in the basis on some new crop corn and beans to be sold later against what I've hedged with future contracts? Basis has been $.40- $.45 on corn almost all year with a historical value of closer to $.50. The soybean basis has been $.70 to $.75 all year and is pretty close to the historical value I think. Crops will be sold to the local Co-op who deals with a terminal. No concern about not raising enough bushels for what was hedged.
