You are correct. The yield monitor system is activated when the elevator rpm is 250 or above.
The "combine settings" button for a yield configuration will have a listed number of pulses/rev. If one needs to fudge the elevator rpm as a workaround to make a combine work at a slower speed, it could likely be done here. Setting the number of pulses/revolution lower than actual should cause the indicated speed to increase. If that is not possible, another option would be to tee into a different speed sensor (tailings/cylinder/fan/etc.) The elevator speed is not supposed to have any effect on the yield monitoring system beyond that of activating/deactivating it in relation to the 250rpm threshold.

I installed a yield kit this week that was incorrectly reading the elevator rpm double of actual. The speed sensor tone wheel had six fingers, and the default settings for that combine model was 6 pulses/revolution, but I ended up having to change the setting to 12 pulses/rev to get the indicated speed to match was was manually measured with a phototach. Otherwise the yield system was attempting to monitor even with the machine at idle.
