Southeast Colorado | I think you could still get some corn picked up at the farm for around the $6.70 mark today. I know a couple of folks playing chicken with the old/new spread right now but I don't expect them to be rewarded. (Definitely not if you look at what it was worth fresh off the combine last year) Just not enough bushels out there to make it worth the end users trouble. All I know is that I'm glad I gave up a couple of months ago and cleaned out my bags at $7.50. It didn't feel like the right thing to do at the time but the 2008 deal was still deep in my mind somewhere. Watching that corn fall down FOUR DOLLARS made my gut wrench a little! I was only sitting on one 120 acre circle worth of corn but it was well in excess of over $100k by the time I sold. YUCK! (Lots less income taxes though) Are your targets anywhere near SEVEN?
