Its easier to look at the accustat and see if there is a problem with a row just because the way it displays it.  I agree with torn that you can do just as good of a job if you are scannig the rows constantly.  But it does give you data of each row so that if there are issues later in the year and you werent running the planter you are able to go back and look at the map. 

I paid more attention to my spacings number than anything to try and improve my planting. But this year I was planting such wildly different size seed it was hard to do.  Wish I could control each Vac motor seperately.  Amazingly the planter will do a good job at planting 45# seed and 65# seed at one Vac setting but you give up just a little skips on one and multiples on the other.
