Death comes to us all. Life's but a walking shadow | I'm not quite so sure about the government coming out ahead with GM. GM was split into a profitable and unprofitable parts. The unprofitable parts were sold at firesale prices. I followed the machine tool auctions and you could buy whole factories cheap. And didn't GMAC go broke? And the pension obligations got aborgated.
I think if you look close you'll find that the profitable part of GM paid back it assigned share of the debt but I'm not sure about the rest of it.
