WC MN
Land prices are substantially higher now vs 2008. In our area lots of dollars have been spent on infrastructure to handle corn. 80-90 day hybrids have come a long ways in yield potential. Beans have not improved much and are pretty constant disappointing in yields. If corn settles in the $3-$4 range like some suggest then beans will be $8-$10? What will acres go to? Are we going to plant 90 million acres of beans? Sunflowers? Wheat? Cotton? Rice? I live in an area that 10-15 years ago was 50% wheat and maybe 10% corn. Now I'd say it's 10% wheat and 50% corn, and that is not changing back anytime soon in my opinion.
