Grabill, Indiana | The Pro Farmer Tour estimates that Iowa will have a corn yield of 171.9 this year. Compared to the three year average of 157.09 that seems like a HUGE crop. HOWEVER when compared to the three year average from 2009 to 2011 of 171.66 it is merely average. If you compare it with the 08 to 10 three year average of 172.9, this year's estimate is still 'average'.
If you want to exclude 09 and use the 06, 07, and 08 three year average of 165.2. This year's estimate is 6.7 bushels or 4.06% greater than that average. Again a bigger crop, but not much more than average.
