Subject: Situation locally with southern crop

N FLA
I posted this video on Crop Talk, but thought I would mention it here, as it may pertain to the Grain Cliff or Basis Cliff or whatever you guys are calling it.
The video is our corn harvest and hauling to the merchandiser. Our area added about 30% acre increase this year to last. I guess most of the South added a big piece as cotton acres are down pretty good.

So we have 3 out of 4 area buyers that are full, only taking more from farmers with contract as they can feed it out (chickens/beef/dairy). Their cash price is about 0.30 over board, but as I said they really arent taking anything. One merchandiser, Central States, has set up to receive corn in a big way and are putting it straight on trains in a gravel/concrete facility. Dumping about 8 trucks an hour the day I was there. The day this rail acess was closed to recieve a gravel train, drivers told me it took 4-6 hours to dump one load at the everyday use grain facility. This grain is being directly loaded to railcars from the trucks and being sent to North Georgia and the Carolinas (poultry/maybe hogs?) They are taking corn still. This works until they can't move these trains I guess, because their "storage" is full. We may be able to wrap up harvest before an appreciable amount gets going in that area because of wet conditions up north. If not, I guess we will be stuck with it in the field in many cases, if the trains quit rolling north? My understanding is they are paying 0.30 over board currently at this location that will still take corn. Not sure what price we will have to pay to send it back down in the winter from up North, as our area doesnt have storage to carry through the winter here even if we fill up.

Anyway. Just some things related to what we are seeing here. Not sure how it relates to prices. Just some observations.
