He's done a lot of different things in agriculture, and he understands the workings of the cash grain business quite well...

I was trying to come up with an apt description of how the rest of this old crop marketing year might go

all I could say was "there may not be enough foam on the runway for this one to land safely" !!

I was NOT posting this from a bearish perspective...

moreso that corn will be very tight and that anything is possible...

BUT......by mid to late October, this basis gig will be all over

anything possible in between...

Location, location, location. Doesn't look like a crop on the way to a speedy end unless the dreaded F word hits, then its ugly. 2009 was October harvest for a little corn because rain and no drying kept us out of the soybeans until November and then finished corn after that. This isn't an early harvest we are looking at.

Ray-Carroll in Carrollton Mo is paying 6.14 right now. 1.40 Basis. Central and northern Mo won't have dryable corn until early October and dry corn late October early November.

That's just Carrollton. 5.84 for the other locations. Carrollton has the e plant. Advertise all ya want. I'm sure 100.7 KMZU the farm would appreciate it Lol. Thanks for your posts Ray. You are one of the guys I pay attention to.

Use the money to buy CU13, Ray. FND is what, about 10 days out? Cost effective corn for every operation.

You don't get possession of the corn until Sept 17-24, and then it is someplace on the Illinois waterway system in a barge that you have to get moved to someplace where it can be transloaded and trucked to the interior...

now, if this were an August corn futures contract, we'd be talking about the possibilities...
