The heck with the crop condition reports and crop tours I think you have to look at the last 30 day rain amounts for the major corn and bean areas to get a handle on this crop size and to me the amounts and area of coverage doesn't lead to a record yield/acre maybe not even an average yield. Adding in the fact the crop was planted late, some of which was planted really late, which in itself lends to lower yields why would one expect even average yields in the first place. Sure its been cool like 2009, but that year the crop was planted fairly earlier and under better soil conditions then this year in a lot of the belt.


A location would help. Until the last 5 years I would agree with your planting date statement--Have had some pretty good yields "here" planted way past supposed "ideal" dates.
