What happens when you hit just one brake at the time? Any difference between the two sides?
I suppose it's possible the pads have fallen apart? Probably worth the trouble to go ahead and drain the transmission and check the sump/pump suction screen for brake pad debris. Usually this is black chunks and brass fibers.
