Why is it that some think prices should never rise in ag products? Everything else has risen including all of our inputs do any of you think these will go down. I'm thinking long term not a 1 year dip. I would guess that most who are complaining about high land prices are those who have never bought much in their lifetime. When grampa was farming he bought land for $200 an acre. I don't know what his first purchase cost. Dad started his career buying land at $1000 an acre. I bought my first farm at $4200. The last one I bought 3 years ago was $8900. If my two sons farm I would expect them to have to pay quite a bit more probably $25000 an acre. Long term land always goes up. Grain prices will go up or we will hit the next major yield advancement so that gross dollars per acre will go up. |
