Have you walked past the end rows in the irrigated corn. I have and the kernel counts are below last year. Irrigated corn is nowhere near a record.


I've been out in my fields and one of the neighbor's fields. Kernel counts were at least as good as last year. Fill will certainly make a huge difference, and an early freeze could change test weights a lot. But our average first freeze date is around Oct 8-10. As long as the corn doesn't freeze before Oct. 7 this year, I stand by my statement that irrigated corn yields will be very good. Maybe the kernels won't fill and I'll be wrong. We'll see.
