I have the same problem, since a couple of years. When pits are emptied, it takes no time to get the foam back on top again and my pits are 8ft deep... We use used engine oil mixed with diesel. Foam is gone almost instantly, but comes back in a few days. We have to unload the manure several times a year, even with pits only half full. Agitating it or pumping to another pit actually makes it worse, you give the bacteria that causes the foam oxigen, so they speed up the process....
