King City, Mo | I have a small foliar plot this year over on moms beans. Trying to find data that shows what works/don't work and there's a million different products out there for sale and I got a handful of them.
So asked a few for samples and told them we were having a weigh wagon there and pulling data on seed size, protien and yield. Some were really interested and a few wanted nothing to do with a weigh wagon ;)
I think you need to have your soil right first and if you have the p, k, sulfur, and calcium down and treating the seed with incecticide, fungicide, Innoculate at the dealer and a planter box innoculant then add the foliar as there just isn't enough data to go full bore on it.
Also foliars need to be sprayed before 10am or after 6pm. I'm not a fan of tank mixing them in with chemicals so your talking another trip or two...(so $6 acre per trip plus $15-20 for the stuff each time so $52 will buy a 6-30-50 or alot of lime)
But, if you have limed, fertilized, controlled the weeds and are pushing to get more yield or correct a defiency then experiment with foliars. If we don't try stuff on our farms we are never going to increase yields.
