farmer in ontario - 8/1/2013 21:13 If you believe the usda 97.8 mln acres planted, and everything usda says as gospel; That is your prerogative. Pretty easy to come on here, and say I told you so, and look like a expert! All new crop that is not forward, sold is going to the bin. And will reduce corn acres drastically in 2014. http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=388818&posts=4#M3091785
Would you like a "pat" on the back?
How did selling corn multiple years out go for a lot of farmers prior to 2006? Or selling when so called experts said sell next 3 yrs for $5.00 or less?
Can do that today now if you want too, as well.
I will forward sell some of the current crop year, but not multiple years. Unless, it is truly a sky high forward price.
Today the market is telling me not to grow corn in 2014. If the crop budget shows inputs costs remain high, and returns below COP, I will oblige!
