Mount Vernon, WA | I thought that a little odd myself, but I suspect that the t-stat is open long before 260. Keep in mind also that you WANT the oil temp at around 220-230 or so to boil out any moisture that may accumulate.
Can't comment on injector life, as I don't work on those engines for a living. It's safe to say that fuel cleanliness will have a major impact on the life of the injectors.
