I added August to my burn rate spreadsheet.. with Sept 1st 2012 corn stocks of 989 myn bu, Dec @ 8,033, Mar 1st 2013 @ 5,400 and June 1st at 2,764 myn bushels..  This is week #46 into the 12/13 marketing year.. and going off historical useage rates..  we can expect to burn about 165 myn bushels per week.

Thus we should be about..  1,452 myn bushels of corn stocks in the country.. (imports could add a little..)

USDA doesn't usually start reporting how much of the crop has been harvested until about the 3rd week of September.  The last couple of years that has varied from 6% (9/27/09) to 18% (9/18/10) and once again I've left it at 8% for that week.. or about 1,100 myn bushels brought in by that time.  It is REALLY going to vary depending upon how well the crop went in.. as most know this crop is late.. due to late planting.. in places such as Northern Iowa and Southern Minny..  as well as a relatively cool summer slowing maturation.. mostly throughout.

I added August because part of the crop is harvested before Sept 1st...  I don't know how much.. but assume 2% or 274 myn bushels...??

The National Average Cash Corn price registered $6.45 tonight with stocks this week at 1,452.. and yet those stocks are going to be HALVED.. over the next 6.. 7.. or 8 weeks.  Just HOW MUCH MORE is gonna get flushed out with a lower value...???  Vs WHEN is Harvest going to start in earnest... ???

Remember that we burn through about 2% of a corn crop PER WEEK especially during Q1 when it's more than that!!

I don't believe the fireworks are over just yet...

but...

"I could be wrong."

"not a solicitation to trade.. people can and do lose $$$ trading commodities." blah blah blah..
