For all the hand wringing tonight.. it's odd to see that DTN's National Average Corn Basis only broke something like $.02 to $6.45 or +$1.37 the Sept.

???

Hey Ray J.. got any corn you would sell me?  I see you are bidding +$.75 tonight (I'd take that..) and yet the local Cargill country elevator nearby is bidding $6.71 or +$1.75...  A DOLLAR over your bid... to go from a processor TO a country elevator...

what up??

In fact DTN still shows.. 15 pages or 351 locations bidding over $6.00 around me tonight.

It looks like the bulk of the break was in the Dakota's.. (Tara land..) Minny and Iowa..  East of the Mississippi held firm as did the drought monitor area's.

Long ways to go before harvest.. suppose you guys can keep it down for that long...????

It lags

Most bids this afternoon were subject or had tag line

"Please Treat All Corn Bids Subject!"

I would think that it would be hard to go and sell much if any quantity at the higher posted numbers

I do agree that they might not be able to keep it down, but a week from now or a few days from now the posted DTN national basis will be significantly weaker
