north central iowa | Thats a good question. We got our corn in by May 16th and had 5 inches cold rain that night and lost at least 15% of our crop to drown out and just plain rotting in the ground. There was corn being planted "here" up to about June 20th. Dont think there were any beans planted in May around here. We didnt get any in until June 7th(30 acres). THen got wet again until about June 18-20th. Finished around July 1 or so and stubbed in a few wet spots on the 4th.
First corn is tasseled and the rest will be tasselng over the next couple weeks. My biggest beans(30 acres) are about knee high. The rest are 2 weeks behind them. Yes ALOT of late planted crop around here. Praying for a LATE frost this year. If not our bean crop will be junk....wont do the corn any good either for that matter.
ALot of beans you can just start to row around here... cover crop. | |
