SW minn | The next big thing that is going to tank this market is the crop tour . When they start driving around and doing kernel counts they are going to find big numbers. The ears are going to be bigger than last year , BUT I will take a tipped back ear any day. The last inch of that ear don't mean squat. And kernel counts don't mean squat either, the size of kernel and test weight can throw that equation way off.
Question is when these crop tour people start going through IA and Mn are they going to.do random ( measured distance ) stops ? Do they drive along and say this looks like a average spot in the field or do they say we will stop exactly 2 miles ahead ? If they stop on a drowned out spot do they say Oh this is just a little spot lets go another 1/2 mile or do they put down a big fat 0 .? In my area we have drowned out spots and sand knolls which neither of them are much more than 0 but everything else looks good. I do not think we are going to break any yield curve in SW MN too many bad areas.
