frytown my guess is that most of the "shorting of the old crop corn contract is being done by long funds that need to get out of positions and can not find a willing buyer because basis is telling us that the buyers got the last bushels they needed bought a few days ago mostly last Friday first thing Monday.

this is typically how big Inverses work when the last buyer buy's the long are hung out to dry
