Thing of it is, we are only showing moderately dry for our area. Which would be considered normal for this time of year, for our area. So it should indicate an average crop, right? But with a crop that is planted a month or more late, it is devastating.

So it is not only the severity of the drought, but also the timing in relation to the timeliness of the crop planting date.
