Subject: RE: Hyd Down force

AL sells an uplift kit but we don't even bother with it. Basically we make the trade off that the very limited number of people that would actually need it does not justify basically doubling the complexity and stuff that can go wrong for everyone else. People with box planters will cry foul, but the data doesn't really support it. Some people might also say that they want to go BACK to a box planter because of perceived weight distribution problems but this is also a short technical blip that won't last long. Central fill is here to stay. This spring, even in the center of I state America, the data indicates the real problems that affected most people's planting were at the other end of the scale- tire tracks, track tracks, wet crusted ground- all leaving the possibility of insufficient planting depth and non uniform stands. Box or central fill. If someone does need it a simple spring counterbalance is better. The last thing people need on their planter is to double the control system complexity by having two systems fighting each other, double the hysteresis, wasted energy, weird dead band cross over effects. Time will tell, we play the long game. Will the competition try and sell on this feature? Sure. It isn't going to move us from our course of simplicity, fault tolerance, scalability, and industry topping warranty coverage. Oh- and genuine consideration given to the limited electrical and hydraulic resources present on many planter setups today. Thanks for reading my post.
