I agre with with you derby. Urea and UAN in supplement of fall NH3 is big fad. My opinion is that is what works for COOP so that is what they are pushing. I'm thinking more and more of the 1/3 N with planter and 2/3 sidedress that Jim at Dawn always has pushed, i think most universities push it as well. The planter being UAN and sidedress being early sidedress NH3.

My opinion is why are we as farmers figuring a loss of N is normal and adjusting later in the year rather then prevent it as much as possible by placing N in season.

And urea doesn't make sense to me but maybe sidedress NH3 doesn't make sense to many people either. I don't like the depending on good rain to put it into action. You can't depend on rain in July and August although this year it doesn't look like it will be a problem.
