+1 on compaction being the main difference between fall or spring in year like this. I'm big on keeping N in spring or summer of some kind but this year their isn't much difference between fall and spring NH3. The soil stayed very dry all winter. Early sidedress i think will be best but won't know for sure until combines rolls. I think we need to reconsider our planter N but other then that it looks good and will continue on same about of N lot longer. Our preplant NHe is going to need 75-100 lb. of more N. Some of our well drained COC soil will get close to 330 lb. of N but in year like this we have lost 100 lb. and it could and should yield 250+.
