In the pre RoundupReady days, we did a lot of hoeing. We would spend most of the summer hoeing scattered coffeeweeds in the cotton. For scattered weeds, it can be really cost effective. RR crops pretty much made hoeing obsolete around here, but I fear resistant pig weeds may have us doing it again soon. Irrigation chores now occupy the time we used to spend "chopping".
