The difference has to be the different variety.. No way all the N from last fall is gone now... By the time the corn is filling the ear will it run out of N? Most likely yes.... Also with a fert spreader there isn't going to be a line like that.. That being said we top dress some of our corn with urea and most of it, side dress with NH3 and it works real good either way..
