wbstofer - 6/27/2013 06:45 So back in the day I bought an Outback S2 from my fertilizer dealer with a 360 to map and record data. Worked so much better than my foamer. Later I bought an S3 and and traded my S2 in for a second S3. Found an RTK base station on eBay. Bought hydraulic autosteer for two tractors. I was in high cotton. Still couldn't seem to get it adjusted for planting corn, but was awesome for everything else. Found a used AgLeader 3000 yield monitor for my 9500 combine. Thought that would be a great addition. Bought SMS software. No way to integrate planting data from the Outback into the AgLeader software. Bought a used sprayer last year. Had a Trimble 500/EZ steer/EZ boom. Loved the swath control. Never tried to run it without the swath control. 90' is a lot bigger than my old 60' & 45' that I ran in the past. 5 sections. Bought a new planter last winter. Came with an Insight. Air clutches. Swath control. No multi product or auto swath unlock. Now what do I do? Buy a Green Star so I have all the systems? Maybe I'm missing something different from CIH? Sorry for the vent, but I am a little frustrated. Is there something that can integrate all this data? Should I even care? Do I need to punt all the other stuff and buy all AgLeader? Would love to gather opinions from the group about what people have done in similar situations. There are things I like about all the systems. I pretty much have them all figured out by now, it just makes me mad that nothing is talking to each other. Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated...TIA

I don't have any experience with any of these systems. I think it would be a nightmare trying to keep up with all of these different systems-but it can be done. I am curious why the Insight that came with the planter doesn't have any of the unlocks to run it properly? My understanding is that the Insight is a very good display-just has that steering baggage now. You don't say what tractor models you currently have the steering on so don't know how much it would take to change them over to a new steering system. It is nice to be able to reduce the displays/controllers in the cab but that comes with a price. In order to run the planter and steer the tractor with one display/system you might consider an Integra. I don't have any experience with these either but it may work with the modules already on the planter? I don't believe the Insight can be unlocked to steer any longer. If you don't mind have 2 systems then the Insight may still be able to be unlocked for swath and multi product but you would need to compare that cost with selling the Insight and upgrading to a newer system that should remain relevant longer into the future. As far as integrating the data that is a personal decision. It works for me to have it. I am all greenstar stuff and get along very well but it's a chore to keep up with all the data and keep the systems updated. Also, the Insight or the Integra could be used in the combine and should ease the integration of the planting and harvest data. I don't know if the sensors with the PF3000 will work with the Insight or Integra though. I think the 3000 is still a viable option for yield mapping/monitoring. Just have to keep hand written notes and remember to change varieties manually. I did it for years with the old brown screen JD. The SMS should be as versatile as any. Good luck.
