NE Iowa
Nice pictures and admire your farming practices. Your hills look just like mine and I'm 4 states to the west of you. I planted into living rye also but mine wasn't quite as tall. It can be intimidating and the neighbors probably shake their head but it has always turned out good for me. Most people think fields that steep shouldn't be farmed but with no-till and cover crops I feel my fields are actually healing for decades of tillage and improving. Curious what your fertilizer program is. I'm all dry broadcast with DAP, AMS, and urea (Agrotain) for N and 5 gallons of 10-34-0 in-furrow. Potash is spread in fall. Thinking of trying ESN next year. Curious what you do if you don't mind.
