Missouri | We all know how hard it can be to get your hands on a piece of dirt so, assuming you'd like to keep farming it, I'd consider the silage route and/or just keep moving dirt with the row cultivator. As someone else said, you'll most likely need to really move some dirt and throw it right up on the corn. I was just a kid, but I can remember this almost being an art form as it can be quite the job to get one set up just right for the field conditions. There are a few "chemicals" that some of the "organic" guys are using now so it might be worth doing some research on them and blowing it by the owner to see how they react to them. Last year there was some traveling crews working fields at reasonable rates, so that might be an option as well.
I have a couple pieces with similar deals like you're talking about near me but the owner is plumb crazy and I've never been brave enough to take a shot at them. | |
