I wouldn't say it is a common problem with V7.2 - I'm running over a two dozen machines now on V7.2 with no issues.
As for the Remote Logging issue, press the Spanner icon, press AutoPilot and then press Setup. One of those 4 Tabs across the top of the screen will say Steering. Under this tab will be the option to set Coverage Logging to Engaged or Manual. You need Manual.
