SE MN | There were a lot of updates when the 40 series came out. Along with what others have already said about the engine and powershift transmission, on a 4440 vs a 4430, there was heavier front axle (some late 4430's have heavier front axle too), rear axles, drawbar and 3 point hitch. By putting the air intake to the rear of the muffler and the air filter above the engine vs ahead of the radiator allowed for a larger fuel tank on a 4440. All these things remained the same through a 4455. They are all popular today, especially a 55 series, and the selling prices reflect it. They are all very good tractors though. A 4455 overlaps with the production of the earlier CIH Magnums. In 1993 JD introduced the 7000 series tractors. | |
