I wonder if the calves were really large at birth? I have seen cows that have a difficult labor be more prone to do this. This is why I have never used a Charlois bull. I know they add lots of pounds to a calf but if they are dead they are not worth much. I am big on adding pounds to cull cows and think it pays. They will bring more per pound, they will weigh more and buyers feel better about buying stout cows that will make the trip. You will be surprised how a cow will gain in just 15 days. At that time too maybe the price will be getting better. I still have not lost hope on the price getting better but could be dreaming.
