Subject: Grazing cows and calves on failed wheat

Top of Texas
I've had my cows and calves turned out on drought and freeze damaged wheat for about 2 weeks. Between the weather and their grazing there isn't a whole lot of green stuff left and what is green is shooting a head. Is there much value in what's left out there? I mean there's still plenty of forage left but it's mostly dead stuff. Should i let the cows grub everything down to the ground before pulling them off? FWIW it's not like i have a bunch of green grass they could be grazing instead.
