| Poor design for a bridge, using arched girders over the the roadway, forcing high trucks to a certain lane.
The old arched concrete overpasses on Highway 400 in Ontario (built in the late 1940's) have pretty well been replaced by straight, flat overpasses. Silly idea to have the "truck/slow" lane on the right have the least vertical clearance. The trucks have to move over right away, especially if just trying to enter the highway on the right right under the overpass on a cloverleaf ramp. You can always see the repaired result of concrete damage hit by trucks on the arch corner. | |
