Officially anything over 10K is CDL. The combination is what gets it. I have two trailers. Started with a 27+5 Elite 20K dually gooseneck. Great for hauling, no so great for maneuverability and taking on and off. The worries of GCWR and tandem duals with a single wheel pickup I bought a 14K PJ deckover 19+4. I have had 22K on my gooseneck with a duramax and now use it only on my Topkick where it belongs.

The PJ gets used more that anything and hauls easy behind a 2500. Have hauled a 1086 on it, seed etc. It's the handiest around. You don't say how much water you want to haul but likely a gooseneck would be a better fit with more weight.

Was just over your way yesterday. Bought a used dump trailer at R&P Carriages. Looks like you had a toad stranger go by?
