Both tile need to be 'bedded' properly so dirt is around both and no voids, or it will deform.

Side by side might be better, tho on top of each other (but bedded right!) can work.

A cheaper option would be to buy double wall sticks, and hand lay them in your trench. They make bell ends, just shove together. Might look like more work, but think you will have less invested and less chance of problems really.

If the old tile is concrete, remember single wall plastic runs slower, so a 10 inch concrete cannot be replaced with 10 inch single wall, you need 10 inch dual wall or 12 inch single wall plastic.

Depends on slope and other stuff, but keeping all that the same:

10 inch single wall flows 238 gallons.

Doubling that by running two will flow 476 gallons.

A dual wall 10 inch flows 337 gallons. (Might be what the old concrete flowed about?) **** oops, I'm wrong, you have a 12 inch clay!

A 12 inch dual wall will flow 549 gallons.

If it were me and I were guessing at what to do, I would forget the boot, make the trench, and hand lay the dual wall 12 inch 10 or 20 foot pieces. Be a lot better job, cost less.

Or maybe a 15 inch single wall, or whatever prices out best and fits your trencher and all. And what is available in your area.

As pipes get a little bigger, they handle a whole lot more water. So its always cheaper and better to upsize the tile, vs running two of the same size....

But lot of factors, just a general suggestion of which way I would lean. A pro would do a lot better than me....

****Oh, reread and the old tile was 12 inch clay not the 10 inch i thought, man, I don't think a pair of single wall plastic 10s will flow as much as that old clay did, you better rethink all this, a clay 12 inch is a big tile, lots of flow on those! You beed to look at the above numbers, I think you will be very disappointed if you try a pair of single wall 10 inch plastic! 15 inch dual wall will flow 996 gallons, think that will be your best deal when you get it all figured out and start pricing stuff.
