I agree with Lawfarms, it is no longer a cover crop but a forage crop. If you are feeding cattle, putting up good forage is never a mistake. Make sure the corn has plenty of N in addition to the manure and you may not even be able to tell the difference in the bin come harvest this fall that these acres already had a forage crop taken off in the spring. Chopping small grain silage then planing corn is common here in this part of PA. Do it and don't look back.
